Whistler Real Estate Market Update

Welcome back to my Whistler Monday Morning Coffee email!

We were just switching our database over to another system over the past few months and encountered more than a few glitches. However, we're back now and have plenty of insight for you on the current state of the Whistler real estate market.

We received a nice dusting of snow over the weekend right to the valley floor and I've heard reports that we got as much as 20 cm up in the alpine. Click here to take a look at the Whistler and Blackcomb live webcams to see how it looks.

A topic of discussion we've had come up over the past few months is whether or not Whistler will be open much this winter. There's a bit of a misconception circling around the rumour mill that Whistler is closed or very limited in access during the 2009/2010 ski season. This could not be further from the truth. 90% of all terrain on Whistler will be fully open for skiing and riding this winter - even during the Olympic games time during February and March. For full information on the driving restrictions during Games time just click here. It's pretty straightforward and easy to get up here during Games time and it's really business as usual outside of the February Olympic Games time slot.

Finally, about 2 weeks ago our company had our yearly real estate information symposium at the Chateau Whistler titled "The View From Here". It was a good talk with several noted speakers that discussed the past, current and future states of the market. A great slideshow that came from that is posted on my blog which can be accessed here. Take the graphs and figures with a grain of salt especially for the period of 2007 to present as we went from a period of huge and unprecedented sales volumes down to a trickle in very short order. That is reflected in some very wild looking graphs. Interesting nonetheless.
