Whistler Monday Morning Coffee
Good Morning!
Well, the Olympics here in Whistler sure have transformed our little town. We knew it would but as many people say, having the Olympics in your home town really is pretty life-changing. Whistler Village is a sea of people all day and night now and I've never ever seen so many people in town. Quite a scene but surprisingly getting around hasn't been much of an issue which is a testament to the traffic and mass transit planning that VANOC has put in place.
I took the family to see the Men's Luge at the Whistler Sliding Centre on Saturday night and it was amazing. They weren't quite attaining the speeds that I thought they would. This was due to the tragic death of Nodar Kumaritashvilii and the start being changed to the women's start area. Whether they're going 153 km/hr or 143 km/hr it's still a very cool sport to see up close. At some points along the track viewing areas we were so close you could touch the ice!
This morning I'm off to see the Men's Downhill which has been postponed for the past few days. It should be another amazing event to take in with Whistler's own Manuel Osborne-Paradis and Robbie Dixon expected to contend for medals. Typical Whistler weather has been in full force over the weekend with driving rain in the Village and mass amounts of snow up top making for a very inconsistent race course. The volunteers have been working non-stop to get the race course in shape and it looks like today will be a go with clear skies as I write this. I'm so pumped to see it!
As usual you may click here for all the newest listings in Whistler and Pemberton in the past 7 days and click here for all the properties that have sold in the past 7 days as well.
I've just brought a new listing to market this past week for an amazingly renovated huge duplex that sits right at the base of Whistler Creekside on Gondola Way. It's 2200 sq. ft. with 4 bedrooms and a loft, hot tub, gorgeous new kitchen and it's a very short walk from the Creekside base up Gondola Way to the property. It's the first house at the base of Gondola Way so, not quite ski-in/ski-out but really very close. It's listed at the very attractive price of $1,349,000. Click here to check out the video I put together of this great new duplex listing.
