Whislter Monday Morning Coffee
Good Morning!
Well what a past few weeks we've had up here in Whistler. I can't believe it's over now. I watched the closing ceremonies last night with my wife and two boys and all I could think of was how perfect the Olympic Games turned out to be. Sure there were our fair share of technical glitches and typical west coast weather but at the end of the day I think we can all say it was simply perfect and an incredibly amazing experience. I was even moved to a bit of a tear as Neil Young sang "Long May You Run" when the torch was extinguished. All I can say is wow.
The big question I'm gearing up to be answering from my clients for the next few months is pretty much the same as it's been for the past 7 years since we were awarded the 2010 bid. How is having the 2010 Winter Olympics here going to affect the market? Honestly, I just don't know. All I can say is 3 billion global television viewers during the Games the past 18 days will certainly not hurt the Whistler market.
Believe it or not Whistler property values in many neighbourhoods and property types are still holding at the lowest levels in the past 8 years (apart from many of the higher-end homes). So, we'll likely see some good things come to Whistler property values in the coming years as a benefit of all this global exposure. If you're thinking about an investment here then the sooner the better is probably the best call to make. Seems like simple common sense to me.
Go ahead and click here for all the newest listings in Whistler and Pemberton in the past 7 days and click here for all the properties that have sold in the past 7 days as well.
My sellers of #144 Coast Hotel on Blackcomb have just dropped the price of their 2 bedroom corner suite overlooking the ski slope to a jaw-dropping price of $285,000. Click here for the detailed feature sheet on it if you'd like to take a look (it still has the old price of $295,000 on it).
Also, just a quick note to let you know that I just sold #307 G4 Horstman House this weekend for $72,000. It was a one bedroom quartershare on Blackcomb with ski-in access. What a great deal that was!
