Numbers Don't Lie!

80%  of Millennials recently surveyed expressed a desire in becoming future homeowners! 66% per cent of whom are expected to do so in the next 5 years. With such a huge influx of new homebuyers entering the market, what changes (big or small) can current homeowners do to attract the eye of these consumers who are most likely to buy THEIR house! Check out our top 5 list 🎉!

#1 - Modest Updates

Think move-in ready! This, after all, is the on-demand generation - particularly in the case of a vacation property.  Spending a few dollars on a bathroom update or a fresh coat of paint goes a long way!

#2 - Going Green

Energy efficiency is a key consideration for this environmentally conscious demographic.  Falling prices and improved product quality is making green heating and cooling options more accessible.   If solar panels or heat pumps are not practical, even small touches like updated appliances and LED light fixtures will appeal.

#3 - Outdoor Lifestyle

77%  of Millennials say that they want their outdoor space to have the "relaxing retreat" vibe!

The Whistler lifestyle revolves around the outdoors.   Creating outdoor living spaces for lounging or dining will go along way towards helping the millennium buyer picture themselves living here.

#4  - Think Practical Space 🤔

The idea of having beautifully decorated rooms is appealing, but not always practical for Whistler living.  Buyers are looking for attractive, usable spaces that will enhance their ability to enjoy all that Whistler has to offer.  Think storage for bikes and skis, a well laid out mudroom for all the gear and inviting lounge areas that are apres ready!

#5- Smarter Home 📲

Adding security features like a front door or garage camera (all that expensive gear!), floodlights for pathways and exterior stairs and a smart thermostat are not as costly as they may seem! (Check out our Smart Home Guide)

In fact, Millennials polled say they'd pay 20% more a month in order to secure a home with smart technology!
