    Christine started ZenAway from her love of real estate and Whistler. Christine and her husband purchased a one and a half bedroom in Marketplace Lodge in 2017, just as Airbnb was starting to gain traction in Whistler. They were generating impressive revenues, and when they shared their success with others, they saw an opportunity to help other homeowners do the same.

     

    Christine brings a unique perspective to her business as a homeowner and an investor herself. She understands the ins and outs of taxes, home ownership, and using real estate as a vehicle to generate wealth. She's also a data nerd who loves looking at spreadsheets to get the most bang for a property owner's buck.

     

    One thing that distinguishes ZenAway from its competitors is its focus on nightly rentals versus monthly rentals. They only work with properties that are zoned for nightly rentals, and they won't rent out a property that isn't zoned for that purpose. This is important because Whistler is currently in a housing crisis, and it's important to keep properties in their intended use.

     

    When it comes to the types of properties that ZenAway specializes in, Christine says their sweet spot is properties and owners that are high quality and will provide a great experience for guests. They work with properties of all sizes, from one-bedroom condos in the village to five-bedroom homes in Nicklous North.

    Christine encourages property owners to be as engaged as possible in the rental process. This means being responsive to guests' needs and taking care of the property to ensure it stays in good condition. ZenAway also places a strong emphasis on preserving the beauty of the property and managing it as if it were their own.
