If you’ve been browsing Whistler real estate listings online, you may have come across the At Nature’s Door complex in Whistler Creekside. These ski-in/ski-out duplexes at At Nature’s Door feature everything that you would want out of a Whistler property, however, their prices seem too good to be true. In this blog post, we’ll discuss everything you need to know about At Nature’s Door, including the unique way of allocating the five weeks, the reservation priority system, and the benefits of ownership.

It's important to note that when you purchase a home At Nature's Door, you are buying 1/10th of the ownership, which explains the appealing price. It also means you get to use the property for five weeks every year. The vacation planning year runs from October to October, and owners are allocated two winter weeks, two summer weeks, and a bonus ‘5th’ week, which is typically during the shoulder seasons in autumn and spring. The allocation process is done through a rotating priority reservation system, and each owner gets to choose the weeks they want to use from mid-April to the end of June.
When you purchase a home at At Nature’s Door, you’re buying in a specific unit, which is either an A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I or J “rotation”. Each year, the reservation priority system rotates so that a different rotation gets the first pick for their desired weeks.
A common question I get is whether you can do nightly rentals to offset your ownership costs. The answer is unfortunately no, you can’t do nightly rentals of your property. These are for owner use only and there is no nightly rental revenue generation component allowed. There is also a fairly significant quarterly maintenance fee which as of the recording time of this video in 2023 is approximately $3,200 to $3,500 quarterly for each 1/10th owner. This works out to between $13,000 to $14,000 per year and it includes property taxes, strata fees, and all utilities.
One of the major benefits of At Nature’s Door ownership is the Fairmont Benefit Program & Reciprocal Use Programs. A maximum of two out of the five planned weeks allocated to owners each year may be deposited into the Residential Reciprocal Use Program, which allows owners to exchange one of their planned weeks for a week at another Fairmont Heritage Place property around the world. Owners may deposit up to two of their planned weeks into this program with a minimum of 90 days prior to the arrival date into the Residential Reciprocal Use Program, and a $250 US transaction fee will apply at the time of confirmation.
The Hotel Reciprocal Use Program is another exchange program that allows owners to exchange a week from At Nature’s Door for time at any of the participating four and five-star Accor Hotels and Resorts worldwide. Owners may deposit one eligible week with a minimum of 90 days prior to the arrival date into the Hotel Reciprocal Use Program, and a $400US transaction fee will apply at the time of confirmation.
In addition to these programs, At Nature’s Door owners have their own website, which is loaded with lots of great information, ownership documents, and is a tool for owners to contact each other. Owners also have the ability to buy and sell their planned weeks between each other for owner use only.
In conclusion, 1/10th ownership at At Nature’s Door may be an attractive option for those looking for a ski-in/ski-out property in Whistler. While there are some limitations, the benefits of ownership, including the ability to exchange weeks through the Fairmont Benefit Program & Reciprocal Use Programs, make this complex worth considering.
